well, I'm getting a little more "puter" literate. finally put together a slideshow of out trip to Key West a few years ago. Not bad for a rookie. we hit 23 bars for our 23rd anniversary. was going to do a memory book for our 25th but this is the way to go these days.

Olympics with Kayleigh

Kayleigh participated in her first "Special Olympics" the other day at Harvard, she had a great time and won 2 gold medals and one silver in the 3 events she entered.

and this kid "Jared" is what the Special Olympics is all about. Take a look at the size of the other 3 people he is running against in the first picture, thats him on the far left scratching his head. Not a chance !, but the second picture is when he got the baton on the anchor leg and started running. (I think the other 3 teams just finished, but do you think he cared?) obviously NOT !. He loved every minute of it and tried his best. That picture I took was published in the Daily News and they put this caption underneath...

"With baton in hand, Jared Bedard is all smiles as he speeds around the Harvard track in the relay event saturday".

Really makes you count your blessings.

HOME... away from ... HOME

Well this is our 2nd year at being "seasonal" campers after spending last 12/13 years of packing up and heading to Kokatosi Campground in Raymond, Me.

Cheryl and Michelle have been there.....memories...

This is where I hang out and watch many of the Red Sox games....light a fire and crack open a cold one (or two). nice little 19" HD TV

Found someplace to call our "vacation home" that we can enjoy every day of the summer and not waste any time or gas getting there. We looked around the area first and camped out (tented) on 2 weekends to try this place out right on Lafayette Rd in Salisbury. Seemed like a perfect spot to chill out and enjoy the great outdoors and try our hand at being "seasonals".

Kino's Sandals on the Green Monster

OK, had to honor an obligation to some friends we met in Key West. I told them I would take a picture of my Kinos on top of the Green Monster at Fenway Park the next time I was there.

This was from 2007 but browsing some photos and came across these. My Kino's (if you don't know about these sandals, you should "google" them). a conch shell from KW, a couple of magnet souveniers, and a couple of pix of us enjoying our vacation in KW.

when I was taking the pix, a tour was coming by and the guide pointed them out and said I must be doing it for a friend. people were taking pix of me taking pix.....hmmmmm

Red Sox game with Steve Oldak

Nice Seats !!!

Well, finally got to see my first SOX game of the year thanks to cousin Steve Oldak from Somerville. He scored a pair of 2nd row seats in the "State Street Pavillion" (never sat here, usually I can only afford bleacher seats or standing room). Beautiful night for a ballgame at Fenway against the Angels (of Anaheim).

We checked out the new "Bleacher Bar" which is located under the bleachers at Fenway. If you watch the games, its right behind the big overhead garage door in center field. It has a 2-way mirror on the inside so patrons can watch batting practice and the game from inside but the players can't see inside.

(I almost got booted taking pix because "NO flash photography" is allowed and my camera would automatically pop open the flash because of the lighting conditions. I had to use my charm with the waitress and explain that I'm a POLOCK and don't know how to use my own camera...DUH...

We ended up losing the game 6-2 ... and almost got NO-HIT by John Lackey, Pedroia broke it up with one out in 9th inning ...PHEW !!!

Jenni finally (only 4 days late) had Baby Hunter on the 24th.
Weighing in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. and 21 inches tall. at 7:58 pm

George Currier

NEWBURYPORT — Retired firefighter George (Click) Currier of Newburyport, died at his home surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of the late Alice (McLaughlin) Currier, father to the late Virginia Currier, George (Bear) Currier and John (Bear) Currier. Born in Newburyport March 2, 1918, He was the son of the late George and Margaret (Twomey) Currier.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Pete Sharkey of Salisbury and Joan and Richard Cook of Florida; and two sons, Corneilus Currier of Newburyport and Paul Minasian and his wife, Kirsten of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Cynthia Kozuchowski of Florida, Kevin Kozuchowski, Brenda Cronin and Paul Currier all of Newburyport, Coleen Balent of South Carolina, Michael Cook of Florida, Michelle Swindell of California, and Victor Minasian of Oklahoma. He leaves six great-grandchildren, Cheryl Kozuchowski and Jennie Kozuchowski both of Newburyport and Chase and Cheyanne Cook of Florida, James Hargreaves of Newburyport, Currier Balent of South Carolina and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Putnam of New York, and Ann Marshall of Newburyport; and a brother, Leonard Currier of Newburyport. He was the brother to the late Carlton, Bernice and Mary Currier.
He worked at the Portsmouth Navy Yard from 1941 to 1943, then joined the Navy Seabee's as a Hard Hat Diver in World War II. He was appointed a call fireman in Nov. 1939, then in 1947, appointed permanently. He retired in April, 1983 after serving on the Newburyport Fire Department for 44 years. He took a leave of absence in 1951 for about a year to help build an airbase in Trule, Greenland. He worked for North Atlantic Constructors for the U S Army Corps of Engineers in what was called Project "Blue Jay."
He also worked for the Twomey LeBlanc Funeral Home for over 50 years.
In his free time he liked to cane chairs and gave them as gifts to family members and friends.
After retirement be kept himself busy working full time at what used to be his part time jobs wallpapering, painting, rebuilding houses, and odd jobs for many people, including several doctors and lawyers. When he was 82, he was still going strong and scraped and painted his house on State Street. He and his wife Alice ran the IGA Grocery Store on the Corner of Strong Street for many years, and later on they ran a wallpaper and paint store
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Green Street, Newburyport. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Newburyport. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Twomey LeBlanc Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport. Fire Trucks at YH Parade 2007

just trying my "blogging" skills to see if i can post some short videos i have on file. i have a few of the many,many fire trucks that start the YH parade. sound comes in and out ...but now i know better and will hold the camera in one position this year instead of zooming in and out.... enjoy

a good time was had at the Elks past sunday for Jennies baby shower, lots of gifts, a few games, and not so bad for my first shower...

before.......... tables with diaper cake waiting for all the gifts

Patsys' special cake .... ( we had a "jungle" theme going on)... nice cake but it looks like a few animals wanted some fresh baby meat for lunch !!! ouch, poor kids are traumatized for life now.

was interviewed by the Lawrence Eagle Tribune also and they took their own photos, asked me about my shirt (told them it was my official game shirt given to me by my daughter at the fathers day game last year), also asked about the autographs on my hat and why i was there (duh) and what it meant to me....I'll check the papers in the next few days to see if I made it ???

Put Kayleigh on the bus this AM and grabbed the newspaper, front page had an article about the trophies not coming around here like back in 2004...but they would be in Lawrence today from 11:00-3:00. sounds like a plan to me, figured i would get there when they opened before the lunch crowd got there and before school got out and all the kids started showing up.

Went on a boat trip to snorkle and watch dolphins playing (just me and dawn on the boat...sweeeeet), the sunsets are beautiful and they have a big celebration everynight at Mallory Square... and think i saw Elvis riding a bike (i must have had beer glasses on !!!), also found a great Red Sox bar (the southernmost Red Sox bar in U.S.

A few photos of our anniversary trip to Key West last year, had a great time celebrating 23 years by doing our own little pub-crawl and went to 23 different bars during the 4 days we were there. Got to see "Elvis" ...finally, and found this great little bar called "The Smallest Bar In Key West" which is only about 8 feet wide (i could almost touch both walls with arms stretched out), and got up on stage at a place called "Irish Kevins". I gave the singer a green Red Sox hat and the crowd toasted us for our 8001 days (23 years) of wedded bliss.

Niagara Falls trip a few years back.....

Dawn and I took a camping trip to Montreal and Niagara Falls.. also took in a drive through animal safari (pix will be coming), and a ballgame at the Toronto Skydome (Rogers Center).

did I mention she's a very lucky girl :-)

Took one of Dawns customers from "Village" to a game. He always would ask her if I had an extra ticket so we were able to get him one front row seat on the green monster (we had a pair of standing room). He had not been to a game in about 10 years and he won those tix in a raffle. He hangs out at the Byfield Fire Dept and someone made him the sign to bring in. we got it signed by Jerry Remy (RemDawg), Tom Caron (T.C.), Manny Delcarmen (relief pitcher), George Scott (Boomer, who was in autograph alley that day), and i think a few others???.

we all had a great time and he made it on TV holding up his sign (the guys at the fire station saw him).

Tix on the Green Monster = $150.00

Parking for the game = $ 25.00

Beer at the game for Ski = $7.50

Dawn & Ski as friends = PRICELESS

well its about time we joined the rest of cyber family bloggers from across the country. have a little time and trying to get up to speed with this "blogging" thing everyone is doing. It will probably be boring at first with old photos from previous trips but will also give me a reason to take more pix to share with everyone in the future. enjoy and i hope i do this right???

I am an old man now and "pollish"... I mean "Polish", so i have a built in excuse for messing things up. Hopefully all goes well and postings will improve with age just like i have :-)
